CLIFFORD Chance, the Magic Circle law firm has appointed Nina Goswami FRSA, former BBC creative diversity lead as its head of inclusion UK.
The firm has created this new role in its UK office as the industry seeks improvement in many areas of diversity and inclusion.
Goswami will collaborate closely with Tiernan Brady, the company’s global director of inclusion.
Her appointment is the most recent in a series of firsts for the company as it works to increase diversity on many levels.
She worked for more than 13 years at BBC in various positions including editorial.
In order to support crucial news services during the coronavirus epidemic, she had to return to the BBC newsroom as a TV output editor and senior producer after taking up her new role as Creative Diversity Lead.
Also, she managed BBC’s award-winning 50:50 The Equality Project which was created in 2017 to improve the representation of women across BBC content.
In a LinkedIn post on her new role, she mentioned: “Like many sectors, the law does not reflect the society it serves – whether that’s within the firms, chambers, or the courts. However, I know there are many brilliant people trying to address this. With more diversity of thought across the legal sector we will be able to change the societal construct we all live in to serve us all.
“I also believe we can only do this by learning from others and so am looking forward to a lot of cross-industry and across-sector collaboration. After all, it is only Together We Can.”
Goswami has previously worked in The Sunday Times, and Telegraph Media Group as a journalist. She did her Bachelor of Laws from the Queen Mary University of London.
